The whole point of this site is that the numbers are trustworthy. So here is exactly where they come from, in plain terms, with links you can check yourself. If we can’t attribute a figure to a published source, it doesn’t go on the page.
Where our distance numbers come from
Every distance table is compiled from published launch-monitor datasets and manufacturer specifications. Each table on the site also links its own source inline. The datasets we draw on:
- TrackMan Tour averages
PGA and LPGA tour-average carry and total distances by club.
- Shot Scope
Amateur averages from 350M+ tracked shots, using their outlier-trimmed Performance-Average metric.
- Arccos
Amateur iron distances split by age band (total distance).
- Swing-speed / skill-level research (TPI)
Men’s carry-distance chart by ability tier, from swing-speed research.
How we handle the numbers
We reproduce published figures as they’re reported and label what they are — carry or total, tour or amateur, which population. We don’t blend datasets into a single made-up “average” and pass it off as our own measurement. Where a source only publishes part of a table (for example, amateur data that covers irons but not every wedge), we show the part we can cite and leave the rest out rather than fill gaps with estimates.
How often we update
Every page carries a real “last updated” date. We revisit the distance tables when the source datasets publish new figures — tour averages get refreshed roughly once a season, amateur datasets less often. If a source updates its numbers, we update ours and move the date. Spot a figure that looks wrong? Email hello@thehomegolfer.com and we’ll check it.
What we do not do
- We do not claim to test gear on a private range. We have no launch-monitor lab and we don’t pretend to.
- We do not invent yardage numbers. If it isn’t from a citable published source, it’s not on the page.
- We do not write fake reviews, invent star ratings, or claim credentials we don’t have.
- We compare products by their published specs and price — nothing more.
