Foresight vs SkyTrak: the GC3 against the SkyTrak+

Two gaps decide this one. Price: the Foresight GC3 starts at starting at $6,999, against an ST+ listed at $1,995 on sale from a $2,995 list. Subscription: Foresight states none and bundles FSX Play, FSX 2020 with 25 courses and FSX Pro Performance with the unit, while SkyTrak charges from $129.99 a year for Essential up to $599.99 a year for Elite, with course play starting at the $299.99 Core tier.
And then the fact that settles it in September 2026: SkyTrak no longer sells the ST+. Its product page carries the line saying the launch monitor is no longer available, above a link to the rest of the range. So this is a comparison between a current product and one you can only buy used, from old retailer stock, or through SkyTrak’s certified pre-owned listing. If you are cross-shopping these two new, the real comparison is the GC3 against the SKYTRAK ST MAX at $1,695 on sale against the same $2,995 list.
All of which makes the honest answer less of a duel than the search suggests. The GC3 is roughly three and a half times the ST+ sale price, comes with its software, and is in stock. The ST+ is cheap, capable on paper, and discontinued. Everything below is the published detail behind that. We do not test gear ourselves.

The price gap, and what closes it
Start at the sticker: $6,999 against $1,995. That is around $5,000, and no amount of subscription arithmetic erases it. What the arithmetic does is narrow it year by year. Three years of SkyTrak Elite is about $1,800 by SkyTrak’s own framing, and three years of Core, the cheapest tier that plays courses at all, is roughly $900. The GC3 adds nothing after purchase.
So the gap in year one is about $5,000 and in year four it is closer to $3,200 for an Elite user. That is the fair way to describe it. Anyone telling you the subscription makes a $6,999 unit cheaper than a $1,995 one is selling something.

The subscription gap
SkyTrak’s own summary is blunt about where the money goes: Course play is the line that costs money. The unit measures and the driving range works on the free Basic tier, but playing courses starts at Core, and the full library is Elite. Over three years Elite adds about $1,800 to the price of the hardware.
Foresight sits at the other end of that. The GC3 bundle includes FSX Play, FSX 2020 with 25 golf courses, FSX Pro Performance and Foresight Fairgrounds, and Foresight states no subscription. Once the unit is paid for, playing courses costs nothing further.
One caveat in SkyTrak’s favour that this page will not overstate: third-party simulator compatibility. The ST+ is widely listed by retailers as working with GSPro, E6 Connect and TGC 2019, and we could not find SkyTrak publishing that itself, so it stays out of the table above.
Which one, honestly
You want a unit you can buy new today, with the software included → the Foresight GC3. It is the entry point into the Foresight range at $6,999, below the $15,999 GCQuad, and nothing further is owed after purchase.
You found a good used or certified pre-owned ST+ → it is still a hybrid radar-plus-camera unit with nine ball metrics and five club metrics on the page, and a published bay of 12 by 10 by 9 ft. Price the membership tier you will actually use into the decision before you buy.
You want new SkyTrak hardware → the ST MAX at $1,695 on sale against a $2,995 list is the current SKU, with dual Doppler radar and photometric cameras, GOLFTEC Speed Training, a modular internal design and dual USB ports.
You want a camera unit between the two on price → the Bushnell Launch Pro at $2,999.99, as long as you read its $499-a-year Gold tier first, because that is where its club data lives.
