Foresight GC3: the entry point into a Foresight golf simulator

You will see the GC3 described as a 16-metric unit. That number comes from review sites, not from Foresight. Third-party review sites quote "16 measured metrics" for the GC3. Foresight’s own page names 10, so that is the number we print.

What Foresight publishes is 6 ball metrics and 4 club metrics named on the product page, measured via included club markers. The six ball figures are launch angle, side angle, ball speed, total spin, carry, and side spin / spin axis, which Foresight lists as a single combined item rather than two. The four club figures are club head speed, smash factor, club path and angle of attack. Six and four is ten. Whether a given figure counts as measured or derived, and whether a combined line counts once or twice, is exactly the sort of thing that moves a headline number, which is why this page prints the manufacturer’s count and names the other one instead of picking the flattering figure.

Read down that column and the GC3 is the cheap Foresight, at less than half the GCQuad and about a third of the QuadMax. The step from GC3 to GCQuad is three cameras to four. The Falcon is the same idea mounted overhead for a permanent bay, which is a room-layout decision as much as a data one.

For a home bay, the GC3 is the unit most people mean when they say they want a Foresight golf simulator. The rest of the range is priced for fitters and facilities.

Foresight states no subscription for the GC3, and the software comes in the box: GC3 unit, clubhead measurement, FSX Play, FSX 2020 with 25 golf courses, FSX Pro Performance, Foresight Fairgrounds, sling bag, 2-year warranty, power adapter, USB-C cable, alignment stick and club markers. Twenty-five courses, the practice environment and the performance tooling are part of the $6,999 rather than an annual line item on top of it.

Compare that against the two units buyers usually cross-shop it with. The Bushnell Launch Pro costs $2,999.99 and puts its four club metrics behind the Gold tier at $499 a year, so three years of club data is another $1,497 on top. The SkyTrak+ put course play behind Core at $299.99 a year, with the full library at Elite for $599.99 a year, about $1,800 over three years.

The GC3 is still much more money up front. What the bundled software changes is the shape of the cost: the gap narrows every year rather than widening, and the number you pay in year three is zero.

Here is a gap worth saying out loud: Foresight publishes no room dimensions for the GC3. The product page gives the unit footprint, 6 in wide by 5 in deep by 12 in high at 5 lb, and stops there. Nobody publishes a bay size for it, so this page will not invent one.

What you can use instead is the camera-class floor. SkyTrak publishes a minimum bay of 12 ft long by 10 ft wide by 9 ft net height, with 15 by 15 by 10 recommended, and that is the practical minimum any unit sitting at the hitting area grades against. A three-camera photometric monitor does not need the depth behind the ball that a radar unit does, so the binding constraints are usually ceiling height and the length of the enclosure rather than a standoff distance.
